Shen Congwen:

I worship vigor, fancy freedom, praise courage and admire strong personality. If an individual is mentally or behavioral strong, not calculative over small loses and avoid humanity disgrace, not restrained by materials pursuing and not seduced by faming reputation, then this individual can straighten his backbone and walks the path he desires. He might have carried different belief or learned different experience compare to mine, his political ideology might be in conflict against mine, however, all these do not matter. I still think that this individual is a friend, this individual is a person.
